Special Products Division

Trinity Industries, Special Products Division, is a leader in heavy steel fabrications for the mining and construction industries.

The Special Products Division has 210,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space and is located in San Antonio, Texas. Plant capabilities include plasma and flame cutting, a 500-ton hydraulic brake press, mig welding, flux core welding, subarc welding, blasting, and painting. The San Antonio facility also has easy access to major highways, railways, and to several major ports.

For the past twelve years, Trinity Industries has been one of the largest suppliers of dump bodies to OEM off-highway haul truck manufacturers. We have produced over 3,000 dump bodies for the coal, copper, iron ore, and gold mines worldwide. In 2000, Trinity introduced a revolutionary line of lightweight dump bodies. Our team of experienced engineers worked closely with the industry's largest mines in order to design the most innovative lightweight dump body ever built. Our new T-Max lightweight body is manufactured with abrasion resistant (AR) plate, resulting in wear increases of 2 to 4 times greater than standard OEM bodies. This new innovative design allows for weight reductions up to 50% over most standard bodies resulting in increased payloads up to 24% thus allowing each haul truck to be more productive.

The Special Products Division also manufactures water tanks for truck and scrapper mounted water wagons. Other fabrications include fuel tanks for the inland barges and aggregate hoppers. This facility also manufacturers steel girders for power generation facilities, off shore platforms, and bridges.
